Actuators and controllers
The catalog behind the Engineering Decision Engine — 101 production part numbers from ModuSystems: LYNX belt, lead-screw, ball-screw, dual-carriage, and linear-rotary actuators, AXYS motion controllers, and pre-engineered multi-axis kits. Every part has specs, U.S. list price, lead time, and a STEP model, and every one is sized by the same rules the engine prints with each build.

How the engine chooses a family
The smallest family whose payload-at-speed envelope covers the request wins: SBA45 first, then SBA60, then SBA90. X and Y axes are belt-driven SBA; Z is a lead-screw LSA, or a ball-screw BSA for thrust and duty. A 3:1 or 5:1 gearbox trades speed for load and fixes inertia mismatch above 10:1. Stepper systems cap at 25 kg and 1,200 mm/s; servo at 50 kg and 2,500 mm/s. Z speed targets map to screw lead (6.35 mm → 150 mm/s, 12.7 mm → 300 mm/s, 25.4 mm → 500 mm/s). Beyond the envelope the engine names the closest part, quantifies the gap, and hands off to an engineer — see custom and engineered motion systems.
